how to catch silver perch?

Hey guys, in a few weeks i'm heading to a friends place to attempt to catch some silver perch from there dam.
I have no clue how to catch them! i have done a bit of research and so far worms and prawns seem to be the way to go. I havent read too many good things about lures, sounds more like people just seem to get lucky once in awhile with them.
Any advice would be awesome!
Cheers guys.

I used to catch them on live worms on a small long shank about 2m under a small float at the dam at my old work
