How close is too close?

Ok so we were out quite a good distace doing some jigging for ambers and sambos. We were the only boat around until they started rocking up. So after some time there were 3-4 boats and even a charter super close, i could have thrown my lure into every boat by hand. Where has the respect and courtisy gone. The charter even circled and backed up within 15- 20 m while we were fishing. All we could say is "ARE U SERIOUS".

yeah its just common courtesy
yeah its just common courtesy i would have thought. we all know we dont own a particular spot on the ocean but geeeez. i myself would be to embarrassed to fish anywhere near another boat.

We were drifting over a spot
We were drifting over a spot constantly. But reguardless of the species its just common courtesy. Dont mind sharing the spot but its a big ocean, give a little more room between u and the next boat especially if they were there prior to ur arrival. What would they say if boats go pull up ontop of charter boats operating?
No wasnt going to make the phone call, just everyone makes mistakes but i would call if it was to happen again.
Cant say that i fish within 50m of cray pots, guess i extend the pots the same courtesy.

If your at the barges,
If your at the barges, normal ettiquite does not apply so much and it seems to be common practice to follow the drift of the boat in front of you by around 50m and just keep circling around. At the peak last year, there were over 20 boats in a very small area and everyone just got along and did the rigt thing, and yep it got close but the barges are not a secret and you just need to share.

Kinda related but whatever, we were fishing a fair distance from a dive boat a coupla weeks back and the prick cut my mates anchor rope and we were way out side the zone. He musta got lost and thought he closer to the boat than he really was. waddya do...buy a new anchor
Edit: PC disclaimer, Just a rare one off and no offence to divers

Our friends
up here were fishing out of Leeman, nice spot with a few lumps, next minute a cray boat comes over (might have been his spot for his pots) next minute he circles and circles our friends with a bad bow wave that nearly swamped their 18' boat. Friend took his number down, with photos and reported him to Fisheries, apparently the crayfisherman got a big fine for endangering them. There was no boats for klms anyway, the crayfisherman wanted that spot regardless of the danger he put our friends into. They had to move otherwise would be swamped.
