Insulating kill tank/marine ply

Just building a casting deck with a Kill tank underneath. Wondering if anyone knows what to use as insulation around the tank itself, and where to get it. Any info would be a great help. Also chasing some marine ply if anyone has some they want to get rid of.

thanks,

chris

See if you can get your hands on some sheets of polystyrene foam. It's used in the construction industry as an external cladding which is then rendered/texture coated over and would probably suit your project pretty well. It's really light, has a fantastic insulation rating and is easy to work with. Added bonus of being positively buoyant, but hopefully that will never come into the equation. If you want to try and source some, check out a CSR warehouse.

Hope this helps a bit mate

As above has stated the foam works great ! If you have enough room you can get the insulation foam encased by aluminium , and will be able to construct a kill tank / esky or whatever you need out of it. Seen it done plenty of times.Goodluck with the reno's mate.

Try Builditeco or Unitex

These a couple of companies that supply the High Density Foam for the construction industry.

I'm sure there would be others.

Hope this helps.

Any aquarium store will also have styro sheets. They are used under aquariums to remove any imperfections in the stands. Only cost $10 for a 6x2x2 sheet 5cm thick.
