Jacking plates

Have been reading up on jacking plates.
Both manual and hydraulics.
Seem to be a few advantages with them.
Any one had one seen one or know anything about them first hand?

Hydraulics seem pretty big
Hydraulics seem pretty big in the US for flats boats.
Not sure there is a whole lot of point to a manual ones though.
I guess the point is that you can raise the jacking plate all the way up when the boat is stopped, then run the motor raised till it gets on the plane, then lower it down.
6" rise would save the skeg/prop a bunch.

I agree
tHat would be the point for me lift the motor up for the flats and shallow area's.
Prices and brands?

There are more about
There are more about performance. Ie getting that extra 2 to 5 mph. Had a fair bit to do with them and even the anual plates you'll gain speed. Once you fit it, confirm the height and play with props. Alot of work from start to finish.

i thought performance
i thought performance too.
on ski boats with surface piercing props
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Probably really depends if
Probably really depends if you're talking hydraulic or manual.
Manual: tweaking for speed, the manuals could be useful there.
Hydraulic: the flats guys certainly use these for clearance. To expand on what I mentioned above. The skiffs sit down into the water, and worse ride stern down at rest. The guys often comment that the flats are so shallow the skeg is dragging! The jacking plate picks the motor up 6" and allows them to get on the plane. Once the boat is back on the plane, they can lower the motor back in with the plate.
No idea on brands though, can't help you there!

CNC jack plates out of the
CNC jack plates out of the states. Is the best to go for.
As i said its all about speed. The higher the motor, less drag in the water more speed.
You need to fit water pressure gauges as well( most kits will supply them standard) Out of the hole they will make the boat slower as well but you'll gain a few mph then change props you'll gain another couple.
Not suited for shallow water really. That's were jets come into there own.
