Kalbarri Rivermouth

Got up at the crack of dawn thismorning and ranm the gauntlet at Murchison Rivermouth. Definatley not an easy passage on yak, but doable. Headed out and south looking for some good lumps but unfortunatley hampered by the howling NEaster and decided to err on the side of caution and head back. Stopped just inside the Black Rock on the way in and threw a twisty around and hooked up big time, tho was struggling to keep the yak stable in the wash, took some whitewater over the yak, and busted him off and headed in. Going to have another look tomorrow, with a little less breeze, looks like Col's suggestion of bumper tailor there may well be true.

Snorkel
From the look of the sea in that shot it he could be in need of a snorkel and goggles.
Better luck tomorrow

Good stuff Brett I think the Australian record tailor was
caught there and I have seen a few FWA episodes with Ryan and Steve hooking some hooter tailor there.

I picked up a 91cm tailor
I picked up a 91cm tailor from there last year (easter) on a popper. Was the middle of the day!!!
Didnt have my camera and I was tempted to beach the boat at chinamans to get someone to take a pic of it! Anyway back it went ....so it is still swimming around out there and probably growing towards a metre.
Good luck.

Your a nutter
Man,
I grew up spending my holidays there as the old man was building a house there for the family. That mouth has claimed many victims and been through it my self many times would not even contemplate it in a yak!!
BIG BIG BIG - CAHONIES!!!!
Enjoy........

as said
before, not worth it champ. That river mouth can be really dangerous, even more so the current from the tide, but you know all that right?

Kayak not as risky as boat???
Maybe not as dangerous on a kayak wearing a PFD as you are on a boat in that area? Still better play it safe though.
