knot for wind on leader.

Howdy all,
I'd normally do a bimini to gt or fg for wind on if I'm tying from braid. I'm thinking of putting 100 metres of 50lb mono topshot now before the 100lb wind on.
What knots should I be looking at without hurting the rod guide?
Cheers

ty a bimini with your briad then use the cats paw knot to connect your wind on double.

I've got a bimini + gt on from braid to topshot mono. What knot for mono to mono after? Or do I really have to buy pre-made wind on?

Simply
Tie a Aussie plait double in the end of your mono then a cats paw to your wind on.

aussie plait in the mono top
aussie plait in the mono top shot to cats paw to join to the wind on leader, strongest knots and never had them fail once.

Aussie Plait do not tie a binimi.....you would just cop what I experienced last march and april... snapping lines are large fish strikes ( trolling for billies)

Must be something wrong with the way your tying your bimini's. Been using it for years without any issues when tied correctly.

binimis pull tights when
binimis pull tights when there is pressure im pretty sure...cause the knot to heat and slip.
It shouldn't be used for bill fishing as I was told in exxy and by numerous ppl here.
I will never trust a binimi in terms of marlin fishing......
aussie plat all the way!
im sure some one will confirm why you should use the plat of the binimi, I think im along the right lines

That's probably got more to do with it. Trusting your gear for your application.
I've just started going with the plait for my heavy tackle billfishing as I find it takes time to concentrate and tie it nicely.
Bimini I can tie in a few seconds and get right every time. Certainly works for me on line classes 4 - 15kg anyway.

I'm a fan of the bimini, for me it casts nicer than aussie plait. Takes a while to tie it in mono and tighten without burning the line but once you get it its quick and easy. Either will work though.
From there a cats paw to wind on leader, anything else is gonna be really bulky in 50lb mono main line. Dont need to buy the pre made wind on, they are easy enough to make yourself with some Dacron. Think it has been discussed on here before, but if you get stuck can send you some links.

Ye I'll probably look into making my own wind on leaders. Seems the logical way to go.

Bimmi Twist for me.
I dont dought the trouble Trebroz123 has had with Bimmis. My experience over the last 15 years tying them has been very good. Alan Bevan (bless his heart) showed me how to tie one (and a cats paw) on a charter out of Rockingham. It never failed, we were catching a few sambos. I have caught Black mariln, big Sambos and lots of snags and never had trouble yet. I use the Bimmi on line classes from 4lb to 50lb in both braid and mono.
