Landbased in New Zealand

Spent the month of November holidaying in a small coastal town of Tairua on the North Island in the corromandel., one of the more scenic places I have been.

The accommodation was cheap and executive in class, I would have to say I owned the view on my side of the island, simply spectacular.  ( google Pacific Vista Tairua  it should pop up in the home stays section  )

Great little butcher shop, homemade bacon and home killed meat.  I don't know what Kiwis do to there sheep but they can keep on doing it...... Aussie lamb just taste like paper now

Great drinking spot was the local Game fishing club that opened at 4pm everyday and filled with the friendliest people I ever met.

Tairua is also the home base for the guiding outfit Epic Adventures,  great bunch of guys.

Specifically went over there to chase Kingfish from the stones but according to the locals the warm water currents were a month behind and so was the warm weather,

Rained every day, even had hail storms lightning earthquake and a tsunami warning, but shrugged it all off and had a great time in this friendly little town,

Kingfish were only about at the local jetty in small numbers and were to well fed on the yakkas that lived there,

They even didn't hit the live baits that filled the sabiki jigs

But the snapper and kahawai were about in numbers every day and were great fun on the lighter gear.

Been home almost a month now sitting in stinking hot humid weather with bugger all rain on the horizon so wet season is looking pretty crapSo I thought I would share some pics to cheer me  up

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
