Landbased Sharking rigs

Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone here could give me some successful rigs i could use for sharks off the rocks or shores. I do know a few but seeing some other ideas could play quite well in giving an idea of what possible variations i could use, make or add.
Possibly some thought on bait selection and bait rigging techniques.

Im not out for chasing anything absolutely huge and rediculous but yea. I just want to find some ideas i havent thought of.

I havent had much luck on mine so im scouting some useful info.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
Cheers.

Slide some big baits or livies on a non return clip - the only problem is u cant get the right sinkers in oz (busy importing a mold at the mo).

or throw baits are just as could as the sharks u get landbased are only little rats .... battle to get anything over a hundred killo's ,never mind any thing over ten .

what sort of gear u got to target sharks with - can u cast an 8oz sinker with it without hurting the rod ?

summers almost here and i'l be doing alot of fishing for some big nunnus at night , u welcome to join - hopefully learn some tricks from each other!

yea, 8oz can do, probably wouldnt go anymore then that though. I just want some nice table sharks for now. Craving a nice shark to eat lol. Very tired of scoring rays, im over chasing rays. Yea, i've ballooned a few times but alot of times i go, i just dont have the god of wind in my favour. I know there are good sharking places down south or up north. But i really put in the effort tryin to find something metro. Yea its further goin to where they may be but, for some reason i just want to see if i can find some at common metro areas. I guess i dont want to know i've wasted all my time lol. Wanna make it count

Hows it going Chan,   If

Hows it going Chan,

If you have the luxury of a kayak, then you could just tow a big bait out. i would recommend the 'Mouse Trap Rig'..

Might need to make your own spider/break away sinkers as the shop bought ones wont cut it. Drill out some heavy 10ounce droppers sinkers and add your own copper wire, cable tie them in place.

Set the sinker on the bottom of your mainline via a snap swivel (20lb rated) connected to a 24/37 game swivel so it can move freely ( and break off if needed). Then connect your trace (3 m of wire or heavy heavy mono, longer is better) to the game swivel via heavy coastlock swivel so it can also move freely. Drop that out in the desired location and reel in a good couple of lbs of pressure (a decent bit of bend in the rod) so its locked in. Your bait will move around freely in the water and when it gets taken the sinker will spring loose setting your hook with a nice amount of pressure. Must use circle hooks.

I think i read about all that stuff on the Texas shark fishing site,... might have been another one though. Definatly works a treat ! !

Keep my in the loop if you planning a decent go of it, im very keen to get into some decent string pullers. Im in Bentley, and home 1 out of 3 weeks.

another quesition on rigs for shark fishing. have been sliding pretty big baits recently so i like the security of having a heavy mono leader above the stopper. in joining .45mm mono to .90mm mono i have been using an albright knot, hasn't failed so far but I was wondering if its the best knot to use? need a small knot so it doesn't catch on the guides or the non return clip but want it to hold as well.

as for baits, rigs etc chan ive been plugging this site a fair bit recently but its got heaps on shark fishing (in south africa, but still good for here i reckon)  www.sealine.co.za

cheers chan certainly looks more reliable than the albright knot. hopefully it casts well, little worried about the loop of the bimini twist catching on guides, should be ok though.
