Oh i will have lasting memories of this trip.... my sons comment when it happened was "does this mean we have to go in"
Thanx to the great staff at exy hospital, you know your in good hands when they have a tool box complete with bolt cutters in the emergency ward. We where back out fishing within the hour.
Feel free to post smartarse comments below..... dont bother with "at least you hooked something" as my phone is full of those.

Yeah fish on, i got complacent. Was only a little spanish flag and it was hooked clean with the last hook on a set of 3.0 gangs so i didnt bother with the pliers or lip grips...fish went balistic at the wrong time and i got a reality check with the first of the hooks....always use the pliers !!!

Always crush the barbs, then if it happens just slip it out, say a few four letter words and keep fishing

Works well with single hooks
Works well with single hooks but not with ganged, the hooks come apart without the barbs... might have to stick to singles from now on.

Nasty , well and truly hooked .. nearly done it myself a few times . typically dehooking then the fish goes spastic

Yep where possible fish with single hooks
Had a few close shaves myself so now where ever possible I use a single hook only

Yuk. been there and done
Yuk. been there and done that. My last trip to Carnarvon and I ended up with a treble embedded in one of my toes when a very lively mackeral fell off the gaff. That was fun with the mackeral on one end of the lure and my toe on the other. Still, received remarkably little damage other than the 60k trip back in to Carnarvon !

nope, the doc wanted to try a
nope, the doc wanted to try a new method....pushed a small tube down next to the hook and got it over the barb, then pulled both out at once. Worked well, and i got my hook back. (smart bastard put it in a sharps container so i wouldnt hook myself.)

We had to visit Exxy hospital on our 3rd day there... set of trebles into a friends foot and this just took me right back there -_-
Famous last words "don't put your lures on the floor of the boat"
Followed closely by "look at those Tuna"
And then the best one "Pass me the pliers" HAHA
