it will turn into a pansy's game. Pump, no damage done, no issues.
Pump that seriously injury, like concusion or breaks - tribunal to see intent to hurt, not just automatic.
Then pump targetting the head clearly - no issues.
Then there area degrees of seriousness .
To give a commited player to the ball, more so thatn the other, who bumps him and he falls to the groung and bumps his head, get concussion and then possibly suspended it just pansy.
Force every AFL player to wear a head protection if you fear the bumps is causing head injuries, but dont deminish that pattion for the ball. Sad day when they have to blow kisses to knowk people over.
I am a Rugby Union follower through and through, and love other contacts sport, and over the years after I finally understood the rules fully when Swan District was on a hot streak in the early eighties, started loving this very fast game.
My next door neighbour was Bill Schirowski and asked me to come and meet Toddie to show a Rugby slant on tackles. Slight difference obviously because we can trip tackle below the hips, but a Kill the ball tackle is to lock up the ball, and some subtle differences the boys tried to apply, especially Richardson, the Narkle brother (all joined out touch team), Baker and Bill. I DIDNT apprach BIG Ron Boucher. Bloody frightening man-beast but others also cane to listen to the tricks we use in lining up tackles.
Tackles have improved endlessly in the came, and every now and then you can see a rugby couch had some say in the pre-able to the flattening.
Duffield will be joining him also, strange how it seems after last weeks issues around Viney so of these boys haven't worked it out yet that unless it's 100% perfect it's a massive risk going the bump.
Jury is in, The Frenchman has got a week, Duffield pleads guilty for a reprimand. Roughy has got a week as has Chappy. Just Jones from the Doggies with 2 weeks.
This bump rule is P-ing me off, How can Roughhead get one week for a bump when his shoulder smacks someone in the head and Douglas gets 2 for a perfect hip and shoulder (to the other guys shoulder) with an accidental head clash.
Yeah how much injury comes into it but the guy Douglas hit didn't come back onto the ground but played the following week. And if they are going to grade it as to extent of injury how the hell can they do this the day after the bump when they would have no idea if the guy would recover to play the following week or potentially require 4-6 weeks off or even never play again.
is its supposed to be about protecting the player ,you clash heads in a tackle against an oppostion player you get suspended ,ok ,but if your team mate smashes into you while both going for the ball you still going to smash heads and jack shit happens ,so they are saying its ok aslong as it is not an opposition player you hurt, so until they ping some guy for a head clash or a slide to the legs against his own team mate then the rule is a crock of sh@t
dont realy watch the game much but the rules have changed so much its made the players soft . dont do this , dont do that , can you paint my nails in the break .
toughen up and let the game be played how it should be , fast and hard. was never meant to be a game for sissies.
ever watched the womens footy, no holding back from a lot of them
Go back to the old days when a "charge" was a charge, and a hip and shoulder was just that. If the aim is not the head, but it gets in the way, how in hell can you avoid that. By the end off this season nobody that goes in hard will be left, and the Brownlow will be won by some pansy who avoids all contact!!

Me?
No, just saw the bump on the AFL website. Sounds like a 1 sided affair, good for percentage but not much more.

All to take home from this is
All to take home from this is that they were "kicked" or "yelled" back into action. ANd that their goal accuracy inproved out off the world.
Otherwise still not top 8 quality play IMO.
Freo took it up to to a team Im rated as a fear, and now also the Swans after the very slow start. Takes a good team to beat a good team.
To Beat: Hate to say: Haform, Gelling, Portdrinkers, Swanning along. Pieeaters not there just yet.
Freo above Eagles on the table. Where not sure but bottom off the eight somewhere.
GCS very dark horse, and will cause some upset. Close for cellar dwellers, but no cigar.

Just read that Franklin would have gotten off completely if he did not have 93.75 carry over points already on his record.
