LED Lights for canopy interior
Submitted by timboon on Tue, 2011-06-21 01:02
Hi Fishwrecked crew hope the waters are glassy where you are as its blowing its box off down in Bass straight where I am atm!!! Anyway i`ve recently had an aluminium canopy built for my dual cab and looking into some interior style LED lights does anybody know any good websites where I can have a look?? Canopy has large fold up doors that would be good for using as shelter from the sun or rain & would be good to have some decent lights come night time beach fishing and camping etc....

LED
While I was board on nightshift lastnight (in the bass strait also) I was looking for the same sort of thing for my new fiberglass canopy and read a post on navaraasia.com and this bloke had bought some $5 20-30 led strips and stuck them to the inside of his canopy and the light that came off them was impressive. they are just bare strips so don't look that great in plain view but I am sure you could fit them into some square plastic conduit or aluminium chanel and Sikaflex them to the inside of your canopy to eliminate the need to drill holes in it. I intend to get a load for the inside of my boat, a lot of boaties stick them under the gunwhales to iluminate the floor of the boat. I can't see the post that I was reading lastnight but I am sure there is heaps of options on ebay....

I got some of the strips of ebay and got the the auto elecs to wire them into a spare switch and it cost me about 10 per strip and 150 to get them installed (Im no good at that sort of thing) although Im guessing it wouldnt be that hard to do it youself...
I put them up under the gunwales and they shine down and out and it looks realy good and doesnt cast a shadow anywhere, which helps more than you realise at night
