Both grandfathers survived France in the first world war and father and his brother went to New Guinea only father returned, my name sake was killed on the Kokoda Trail. I missed on the Vietnam lottery but quite a few mates went and all came back sadly some were never the same person that they were before.

so sad - my previous
so sad - my previous neighbour went to Vietnam, we would share a beer from time to time on a Sunday and it always saddened me to hear of how they were sometimes treated upon return - as he says (JB song) there were no D Day heroes in 1972
His name is Bob, he must be mid 80's now, he still drives a yellow truck and has a recycling run (bottles etc) if you see him (on the road or often at any given TAB!) give him a wave - absolute legend.

The only relative that I know
The only relative that I know that served was my uncle in Vietnam. He came home but died of cancer that was put down to the war we should never have gone to .
Remembrance day also has another meaning to me and my family , my dad passed away on 11 /11 at 11 pm 4 years ago , so for me it has a big meaning
