Lowrance hdi elite problems

Hey guys, wondering if any one knows how to stop static on screen when traveling full throttle- it doesn't give a clear pic until I slow down??

its really annoying, any info on these sounders would be appreciated

Is it actual static or a bad reading from cavitation ?

Sounds like it would be a cavitation issue if it improves when you slow.

I have the same and lowered the transducer down a bit further as well as angled it up a notch to reduce cavitation bubbles flowing over the transducer which helped but haven't got it perfect yet myself.

Yeah cos what it shows at full throttle is very different to slowing down

bet its reading turbulence

bet its reading turbulence off the hull - if its cavitation you get vertical stripes across the screen as it "bounces" - get someone else to take the wheel and look over the back to check if it's running in clean water.

Depends on how your transducer is set up i guess,

i havent got mine perfectly sussed but it does the job, i adjust depending on speed until i get a clear picture then increase a touch. I dont really have a exact % to use but i go from 65 when its bad when travelling and up to 90 when slow sounding.

 We also increase colourline

We also increase colourline when reducing sensitivity. Works for us. Still not sure of your particular problem though. As others have said, could be turbulence as well.

I don't know of many punters

I don't know of many punters who get a good sonar reading at full throttle even on a glassy day, especially with a transom mount transducer.

I went through a process

I went through a process recently of trying to improve the performance of my HDS10:

Transducer install is trial and error and takes time!

I found that I would still get quite a lot of clutter on Auto whilst drifting along. . .I think you will have to put up with a bit of it with Lowrance. . .
