Atrocious conditions up here yesterday. There was a small window mid morning where it wasn't blowing it's ass off yet the swell was pumping . For the love of god why don't people use the harness tie off points ?. Even better still DONT FISH when the weather is poo. Let this be a lesson for all of us. Hats off to all involved in search and rescue efforts yesterday and today. Weather is shocking today too.

Chris (Silverfox above) has just sent me some live footage and it's absolutely pumping up there with massive swells. Madness to even contemplate fishing.

ABC News

Mon, 2017-08-14 11:30

This is the only details I could find. States he is a Taiwanese national.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-08-14/fisherman-missing-after-being-swept-off-rocks-near-carnarvon/8803042

Have been up to Quobba many times and have seen what the swells can do up there. Not worth risking your life for a feed of fish. Plenty of plaques up there for other who have lost thier life as a warning.

No excuses and now others (sea rescue) have to go out and look for him.

Seen it pumping as well, king waves kill, you'd think the sign would be fair warning.

Hope

Mon, 2017-08-14 19:16

Not much hope left for him, Spoke to president of Carnarvon sea rescue first thing this morning, they searched yesterday arvo without result and 2 boats left at 0615 this morning bashing into 25 knot NE winds , big seas and swell so it would slow them down and take approx2-3 hours to reach the area.
Sadly I wouldn't have held much hope of finding him even if a boat could have been on scene within half an hour let alone 3 hours

High Rock

Wed, 2017-08-16 17:07

Waves come from behind you at High Rock, they break on the south side and flush north washing those near the wire safety rope over the edge if they are not tied on. Once in the water they are taken out by the big rip about 50 metres further north.

From what I can gather, the body was found south of the Blowholes campsite at Black Rock, some 7-8nm south
