Gday guys gonna pull my 24 footer up to Exxy in mid may from 17 -24May and really wanna get the Mrs onto her first Marlin or saily. Just wondering if mid-May is a good time to go try. Was thinking of heading out of tantabiddi and troll along the drop-off there, any quick tips on that or where else to try for a billy out of Exxy greatly appreciated cheers Dave

Plenty
Plenty of blacks all year round . Zig Zag in and out over the 100mtr line out from Tantas . Work into about 70mtrs and out to 500mtrs and you should get a few hits .
There is also a sharp drop off out from the Murons in 100mtrs that is also productive but anywhere west of the lighthouse puts you into Marlin ground .

Bills
as Paul n said trolling in and out over the shelf will put you right on the money for black and also stripes while lure fishing that time of year , if you want to target sails specifically try skipping gars on circle hooks behind teasers from roughly the 40-80m contours at 4-5 knots. I won’t put billfish baits or lures in before the 40m contour to reduce the amount of shredded lures or wasted half baits form the razor gang. Good luck mate!!

I fish the 60-120m mark for little blacks. Any deeper than 150 and you start finding the odd fish bigger than you really want.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?
