We went there australia day long weekend
You will take the ferry over, when facing the island turn right walk 50 -75mts there is a rockwall and some trees at the further bit.
Bring chook pellets and when you get over on the ferry, stand on the timber jetty on the right and chuck the pellets in the shalllows, 50+cm bream are the locals pets, no fishing!
The spot to the right is only 50 mts from there, but according to the locals we spoke to was the best landbased fishing on the island. We were smashed by black bream, huge hookups, no landed fish. We upgraded to 30lbs leader and were still getting bricked on snags.
Good luck! let me know if you learn any more than me!:D

use hard bodys or plastics on light leaders. Good fish to be had.

hard bodie lures
if your new to the scene then look at halco. the scorpion range is a good lure for the price. other than that atomic hardz are great lures for around $15.
soft plastics are cheap and look at 1/16, 1/20, 1/24 TT jig head range with gulp prawn, berkley powerbait 3' minnow or even the slam 3' minnow.
never hurts to experiment and plenty of options but look for baitfish holding up and the bream wont be far away

dont think you will get any
dont think you will get any salmon off the island since its upriver, you would need to head down to augusta to get to the beach or by boat down to the rivermounth to get salmon off of the coast.

Salmon
For a salmon head down from Flinders bay to the cape, there are many little turnoffs that you can try from.Even try off the little jetty at Dead Finish.
