Monster Abalone Last Seasons Pics
Submitted by hit n run on Wed, 2011-02-09 10:18
Gday Guys & Girls,
Just thought I would share some photos of a few huge abalone we got last season at my secret spot.
The biggest brownlips ranged between 165mm & 185mm and the greenlips were between 150mm & 170mm
The coke can gives you an idea of how big these are & is sitting next to a large greenlip shell.
Hope you like the pics enjoy
Cheers
Steve

With you on that one
With you on that one Muppet, abs are about the only thing this place is missing . . Love roes quickly bashed and breadcrumbed then straight on the barby . Greenlip and prawn patties are pretty good too, nearly OD`ed on them one year i reckon. We used to leave my place in Busso at sparrows , tow to Hamelin or Augusta. Get our limit of greenlips and a few crays and maybe spear a fish or two and be back in Busso by 2 . . Had it sussed . . .

abs
We do get abs up here in Exxy, just that I haven't seen them big enough to get a feed out of yet. We have been collecting a few to see if we can't culture them to market size as apparently our species are super fast growers.
Just wished they were the size of those though, mmm.

Donkey's ear
Common name for them is 'Donkey's Ear' or Haliotis Asinina. There's another species as well commonly called 'scaleys', but I don't know much about them.
