Mud Crabbing Etiquette in Karratha
So I had a bit of a punt into Airport Creek with a mate to do a spot of mudcrabbing. Its not the biggest system so youd expect others to be out dropping nets as well.
So we pull up near one which we werent sure if was ours or not and identified it wasnt ours without pulling the net and moved on and around the corner comes flying another boat obviously the owner of said crabnet who chases us down to the point of nudging our 2 water crafts. I dont really care as mine is a 25 year old piece of shit quintrex runabout but he managed to put the biggest dent on his very new looking quintrex coastrunner. So we pull up and starts accusing us of pulling his nets. All we could say was no we didnt and..........they stood there just huffed and puffed with a look of "DERP" on their faces. I was waiting for them to jump over on ropes like pirates in the carribean and start swinging. Violence didnt eventuate but was just wondering if this is normal behaviour?
Anyways in the chance that skipper may be a contributer of this forum, if you are the owner of that Quintrex coast runner off memory you looked rather fat(keep ur shirt on dude) with curly hair and your deckie who looked like a dwarf with a mohawk.........im really sorry about the dent but we didnt see you charging up behind like a raging homo.

Ha ha love the comments Busted. Pleny o d/heads out there. A good friend of mine teaches Skippers ticket courses and does private navigational and safety tutoring. The stories he tells me of the idiots he encounters in the class etc would make your hair stand on end. There are a couple of class acts from where I launch and we try to avoid them at all costs as they're going to kill themselves or someone else one day.

Mate the chances of pulling a muddie at airport has passed about 5 years.There are some real spankers on the water at the moment and crab pot mania has been a issue for a while.Best thing to do is drop your pots in the mangroves at hearsons ,more crabs there(dogs can find them LOL) Go a bit further too less slamed places and you will go alright.

Have got crabs there and know other guys that do as well. Also been with Brynner just round the corner and hooked a few on a low tide across from the island.
Mind you I only drop 2 nets at a time and would be happy with just 1 or 2 crabs for a feed unlike the 10 or 12 ole pirate boy had spread out....dunno but thats taking the piss if you ask me.

when i was a youngun i went
when i was a youngun i went to mandurah for the w.e with a mate. weve gone to a family freinds or something who were right near the (one of, i cant remember which) river, had their own 'private' little jetty etc. put some nets in off the jetty, gona back to the house for a while and then come back to check 'em- theres 2 dero bikie lookin dudes there fishin off the jetty with their own nets in, they see us and go "ey dont worry mate we put ur nets just over there', pointing to where our few nets have been unceremoniously piled in a corner... wtf?
the bloke that owned the jetty went down to have a chat, but they started gettin aggressive. what can ya do?

I have been very pissed off when trolling in the only decent part of a creek, and some knob comes and drops 5 bloody nets right in the middle of the troll stretch.
The best crabbing spots are not in the middle of the barra hole

Had a guy watch me troll for 15 minutes then when i reached the end of my troll run and went to turn around he dropped his pots straight down the run......... Unbelievible considering i was in Cossack and there is plenty of water there to crab. Who knows what people think sometimes.

Sorry for picking up an old thread, ive followed this site for ages and only just signed up...
I can also relate to this, i had soemone pull my pots up airport creek a week or so ago, they pulled them and dropped them in the middle of the creek, and then started to abuse me for putting them in they way of there trawl section...
I forgot they owned the creek...

The young "Hooligans" had came into the creek after everyone else, but still they thought they owned the creek!
It was very upsetting picking up the empty emu export cans off the bank that they had left!
