I reckon its a fake, once his tale goes under the rock it blends in a little to well for my liking. Have a closer look just as the tale goes into shadow. In saying that though, if its real... holy f*uck!

Truck tyre
About ten years ago I pulled up on a olive python in karajini. It was in the middle of the road on dusk and I thought it was a truck tyre.I didnt want to upset it by proding it so I pulled up close and sat on the horn.It took abput a minute to piss him off enough to move but when he did it was about 20 foot .Its real to me
There are two types of people ,do'ers and watchers
Right now the do'ers are the doing it
And the watchers are watching us do it

Me old mate
Back in the old dirt road days, was sitting right there on that ledge, centre bottom of the photo. Hand line in the water, few wrapes around my big toe and working my way through a king brown(emu export--of course) The v8 xy ute was parked up the top.
Next thing theres a tap on me right shoulder, a bit startled i turns me head and heres this big snake head eyeing me straight in the face. My names Olivia she says, how ya going mate--- I managed to get out I am going real good, nice to meet you.
She then gestured, with her head, at my fishing line and said -- getting any bites--- no I say not even a nibble.
She then asked if I was from around here--- no I said I am from down south an upper great southern boy.
Well you have got a lot to learn she says, fishing around here you always berley up with ROCK WALLABY young fella.
No bullshit
cheers

WOW!
that looks real to me!
if its a fake than ,then I've just been dooped!
I ran over a snake of similar colour and size in Moranbah in 2003 its head was in the middle of the other side of the road and its body was spread accross my lane and onto the dirt we. We thought it was a branch fallen onto the road as we came over the hill, we were going to fast to stop but as we got closer we could see it was moving. all four wheels of my 2X4 Hilux duely when right over it at about 120kph , by the time we realise what we had hit and turned around and drove back to take a pic with our tyre on its head it was gone!
we drove back and fourth to find it and found nothing ! no other cars had passed and there wasn't another living creature to be seen anywhere.
so I beleive this pic to be real.

They certainly get that big
They certainly get that big up there so I don't find it far fetched at all.
Remember coming across one in Geikie Gorge up The Fitzroy that was chowing down a rock wallaby, wouldn't have been much smaller than the one pictured. Also on a Marcsta course the teacher ripped out some pics of his mining days, mainly crane accidents etc. but there was one of a bunch of guys holding up a specimen that was easily that long!
Wouldn't like to find that curled up in my swag...
