I'd be running mono I don't like braid I was thinking the gossa because even though I don't do much fishing off boats I could use the gossa for tuna and stuff like that

Are they a solid reel I've heard the stradic doesn't like the sand and saltwater that much not that I drop my reel in the sand often but it happens when your beach fishing lol

For $140 and rated 4th best blue water reel money can buy, well it's a steal.
Has a great magnetic bail arm operation, no anitreverse deselection lever, will do over 20kg drag......... It's some reel.
Check Alan Hawk review. Unbeatable IMO , I have seen one in the flesh and it looks/feels like its review. Five yr warranty from memory.
Remember, beach = sand and salt in reel, so select from that basis.
I would put the Penn V spinners in for a vote too, $165 on special, very water tight and huge drag system.
And if you want a truley unbeatable beach/rocks reel go an Alvey 650 for around $160 (use lo stretch mono not braid), your kids will be using it when your buried and it won't have even been serviced yet.

specs
ultegra 14000 xtc
FOR ALL THE DEDICATED BEACH AND ROCK ENTHUSIASTS, THE ULTEGRA 14000 XTC IS THE PINNACLE OF SURF CASTING REELS.
Within its gun metal grey and chrome exterior lies some of Shimano’s top features like the exceptional X-Ship System, Super Stopper II, Aero Wrap II System and 4+1 ball bearings. This reel offers exceptional casting distance thanks to the AR-C Line Management System and super slow oscillation.
Mono Capacity (kg/m) - 6/548
Power Pro Capacity (lb/yds) - 65/360
Gear Ratio - 4.3:1
Retrieve per Crank cm- 103
Bearings - 4+1
Drag Type - 20
Weight - 660g
ultegra ci4+
ULTEGRA CI4+ XTB
THE ULTEGRA IS SHIMANO’S FLAGSHIP SURF CASTING
SPIN REEL, AND ITS UPGRADE TO A CI4+ ROTOR AND BODY
DELIVERS A THREADLINE THAT IS SUBSTANTIALLY LIGHTER
TO HOLD, YET STRONGER TOO.
X-Ship provides better gearing and power, while Aero Wrap II
oscillation system delivers uniform line lay on its big pit AR-C spool, so
casting to distant gutters and bommies has never been easier.
Mono Cap (kg/m): 6/548
Capacity Power Pro (lb/yard): 65/360
Gear Ratio: 4.3:1
Retrieve Per Crank (cm): 103
Bearings: 5+1
Drag Power (kg): 20
Weight (g): 580
looks like its just the weight and bearings.
I'm getting the ci4+ in about 3 weeks.

Ultegra
I imported a Shimano 10000XSA Ci4 18 months ago as an alternative to a Salty Surf I own. i love it. The Shimano has superd line lay, great enclosedsealed drag system good retrieve rate, solid build and as Sherbs mentions a line capacity which makes it an acceptable back up balooning reel. 500m of 50lb power pro and a whole lot more of a good PE 2/3. Its stoped some monster rays not being serviced yet - which I intend to get done soon, but its a go to reel for me. I would say the drag on the drag is 'better' on the Saltigas, by way of being more consistent and punchier, as well as the reel being lighter overall, but I find the Shimano is great.
I've just noticed the 14000 have 20kg of drag - thats massive, and im not sure I would want to go anywhere near that high with a long cast spool design, the spool shaft might not light the torque when the spool is at full extension. Still if thats what the design and manufacturer states theres no reason no to believe it.....also you would need to find a fish with enough grunt to test it out!
