Not fishing related but a warning to computer users.
Had a phone call on our home line this arvo from a private number and a woman with an Indian accent proceeded to tell me she was from a company that is contracted to microsoft to deal with security and virus problems and that they were getting messages from my computer and that my computer was not far away from crashing big time. She wanted me to visit some web site by pressing the windows button and the R button but It seemed a bit suss to me, anyway cut a long story short told her piss off and that I thought she was full of bullshit and her responce before hanging up was "well if your computer crashes dont call us" which confirmed my suspicion that she wasnt legit.
Did a bit of searching on the net and found this from microsoft themselves.

Call Centres
I run a small business and get 100's of call's.
I tell them sraight. I never buy anything or give any info over the phone.
If they keep caling i tell them to hold the line i will get the manager, then place the phone next to the radio for 30 minutes.

Cheers for the link.
Cheers for the link saltatrix, when I asked for the womans name and some kind of ID she babbled on about helping me with my computer, wasnt hard to work out was a scam.
On another note I had ANZ ring me late last night to ask If Id bought $1500 worth of plane tickets from Air Italia some where in europe . I was a bit shocked as my credit card was right next to me at the time. What was interesting was she asked if I had been using taxis lately which I had and used my credit card to pay with . I wont be doing that any more . Had to cut the credit card up and get a new one sent out bugger it!

credit card and taxi's
SavDefender, My sister had a taxi driver skim her credit card then hid it in a slot cut into the console.
He claimed that he handed it back to her and she must have lost it.
She refused to leave the taxi and called the police. They had to pull the console apart and found 5 cards in there.

Yep spin them shit, say you're the regional manager for IBM and ask for their details.
And if I get those pushy Optus pricks to the door I tell them I work for Telstra, they know it's pointless
to carry on and then bugger off!
And then there is the debt collection agents that call my work mobile number..."not interested thanks" and hang up.

I quite often get a call at home that says "overseas" on the little read out panel. I just let them go through to the keeper.
Cheers
