Lisa wouldn't do that- she would lose too much revenue from issuing parking fines!

Raises a few questions....

Wed, 2011-08-03 15:42

1. I wonder what the insurance company does - I doubt the Mayor has the powers to destroy vehicles at will regardless.

2. WTF did he get the tank from? Does the Mayor have his own army?

3. What would the traffic police think of the Mayor driving such a vehicle? Does he have a license?

The list goes on......

Lithuania is not run by lawyers and insurance companies like Australia (yet), so at least half of those questions will never be asked.

Are you a lawyer or an insurance guy?

I thought that you were questioning the “credibility of this article”. So I thought that will help you to find the answers regarding insurance, mayor’s army and his license – it was a publicity stunt!

And my “spam”, I don’t think so. The link was more than relevant to the topic. Maybe this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_(electronic) will “help” you  again? But I think I will leave it here now…

Not everyone that post on here is directly trying to upset or disagree with you.

Does appear that the fuse is very short and I am certain that the post are not directed at you, just informative.

I am sure Ill get a blast from you and expect it, but I am only pointing out that we all have an opinion, and it is not aimed at you.

The stuck Popper Rod Vice grip and this atricle  comes out as a very short fuse for what I see as minor opinion differences. I dont see any need to slam someone over such minor view points.

I can see you people have

Thu, 2011-08-04 11:00

I can see you people have never gone off shore to some of the darker parts of the world.

1, in Africa or Eatsern Europe or Asia  this would not blink a locals eye

2, most people in old Comunist states or Central Africa don't ask questions when people in power do things, ( thats why a lot of Aussie back packers get into SH!T in East Block countries, cause they think thye got rights, protection from consulates etc,,, and in a foolish moves back-chat Polish or Russian cops etc... not a smart move boys... ask the guys on Worlds Greatest Race Australia how they kaked themsleves when that Polish cop pulled them over! )

3, in many of these regions the Army is so under paid and behind on their wages by months, you could hire a tank for a day if whated to under the table with a few hundred US dollars!!!

4, about time Australian's stopped acting like yanks and crying to thier lawyers and human rights councilers

loved the video, they gave it

Thu, 2011-08-04 11:21

loved the video, they gave it a good run at the Merc lol, almost as good as Hamster on Tope Gear in South Africa in the carpark scene lol.

yes it was a stunt and a publicity video, but hey in that side of the world they WILL do it if they want to. Ask anyone who has had a not so friendly chat with a South African cop either! you would quick end up on the wrong side of a machine gun.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4v_SexH4VoI&feature=fvst

now we need cops like this in Wa to handle police chases & not this back off and let them get away cr@p we get all the time.

You don't try and out run a South African Special Response Unit cops if you want to live!

No mucking around there,

Thu, 2011-08-04 12:06

No mucking around there, that’s for sure.

As a matter of fact I come from a central European post communist country (lived in communism for some 10 years). Luckily, a lot has changed since then. But yes, I can just walk (literally) down the road from my old folks place and buy a tank (legally) from an army shop. Or drive some 50km and have a selection of about 50. Will be bit hard to drive it back, legally, but I’ve seen armed people mover on the road with number plates driven by some army enthusiast.

This “do if they want to” is luckily gone with communism. Still true in some real eastern countries under communism nowadays mixed with capitalism together.

It’s hard to compare cops in different countries, because the type of crime is different. Before I came to Australia I didn’t know what a burn out was. Set of tyres was worth about 2 weeks pay, back home, so why the hell would you destroy them in few minutes? And even if they were cheap, I can’t see the point anyway. However I applaud to a tough approach against the real criminals, I don’t like the “fun police” and when you need a special licence to work on a second step of a step ladder. Common sense should be first, rules and regulation far behind.

I would love to say we live

Thu, 2011-08-04 13:50

I would love to say we live now in a country that does not need that level of police approach, but since I arrived 8 years ago, I can say we getting far more violent and living in criminal fear here in Australia. Such a shame as this was a very peaceful country and never had people putting a bomb around a kids neck, or major bikie shoot outs becoming the norm ( Yes I know you have had a criminal bikie gang thing for a long time and crime under world) but these days home invassions and attacks are getting brutal and road hoons deadly.

anyways, Adam, lock it before it gets nasty please.

I havent seen anything nasty on here yet Tony

Thu, 2011-08-04 14:06

Everyones just pointing things out.

Have to admit I didnt feel very comfotable in Joburg about 7 yrs ago when a SA girlfriend off mine gave a bouncer at "Teasers" (a very decadent strip joint there - Wow not your usual ones you think about here in Oz) some stick.

She soon found herself facing the cops, with a bag of "Dagga" (Mull) neatly dropped in her handbag by the bouncer. She was in the know, I was not, and somehow she explained her way out of it. I was almost arrested for trying to point out the fact that it was an obvious set up, the way you would to a cop in WA, but mate that is not the way you do it there. You dont raise your voice at all to these boys as I found out.

Rapidly handcuffed I was moved away, told to shut up and no uncertain way, and she was left to fight her own fight.

After the issue was solved ( I dont know how) I was brought back, uncuffed, told to in future address the Police as Sir, and warned that this is not Australia. Could have easily ended in a cell in Joburg full of AIDS infected crims.

Now LOL, then not.

Thu, 2011-08-04 14:27

S&it. And I was just about to plan my life time awaited trip to Africa.

Don’t think that anyone should be required to address police as “Sir”. By saying that, I believe in treading all people with respect they deserve and I expect the same. They are “officers” payed from public funds – tax. Not some upper class of people. But I guess that it’s hard to find balance between giving police enough “tools” to keep an order, while maintaining personal freedom. If you lucky enough to live in a free country.

Thu, 2011-08-04 15:09

well anyone with a gun or size of a brick dunny is called Sir out of self preservation  always remember you have the right to remain silent and sometimes it's best bloody thing to do!

I believe you should address any officer of the law with respect and why not Sir or Madame, as the old manners would always get you a lot further than arogance.

it would take five Johannesburg cops to break up a out of control street party, not like our bunch who have to have their hands tied behind their back when they try to enforce the law.

Dam when I was a kid and if the cops turned up at the door cause your party was out of hand, I'd kak in my daks and turn the music down in a jiffy and my mates would pull their heads in faster than a turtle in a mako school!

part of the problem today is many think freedom is the right to enforce their bad behavour on others and spoil it for the majority.

hey new Teasers very well, as they had a chain of them around the country and there was one bounding on our country estate we lived in, so we got to know the bouncers very well ( and thats a good thing)

Not at all my scene to go to a "Strip Joint". But this was way different to what I thought it was. Good place to have a drink, and the girls was to drool about. My  SA Girlfriend  is gay(obviously not GF in the biblical sense) and I think she enjoyed it more than me.
