Hope that clip is for your safety gear and lanyard. Otherwise I think you may be fishing a bit heavy. Been quite a few starfish like that around lately.
There are people that are gurus now that a few years back probably used brass clips for jigging and popping.They learnt from others and they learnt from someone that tried something different.Fishing is learning and if you dont have an open mind you will learn stuff all.

Loads of them in the sound.
Ive been out snapper bashing and caught them plenty of times. easpecially near the grain loader.
