Officiating a record fish

After looking at that monster pinkie on the brag board by BunburyYakfisha, that has just become WA record...

I thought I would have a look at the overall records for WA....  Have to say I very surprised as there are a LOT of fish I know I have personally caught that are heavier than the records....

My question is.... if I catch a fish I would like to weigh in, who would I get (in Carnarvon) that can say officially, yes thats a record, or no? Is it fisheries?

get it weighed on certified scales ( Butcher, Green grocer ) and have that person sign some sort of verification.

Others can tell you more. cheers Pete.

you have to download the appropriate paperwork from ANSA or AAA whichever mob it is, get it weighed on certified scales and be sighted and signed off by both a weighmaster and member of a fishing/gamefishing club?

Something like that?

No wonder some of the records are small.... lol... almost not worth the effort!!!

I dont think we actually have a fishing club based in Carnarvon! Who officiates the Carnarfin?

Carnarvonite, are you trolling here??

Theres a number of different types of records and associations that record them.
Some are line class like ANSA and WAGFA etc and you will need to be affiliated thru a club and others are all tackle like AAAWA and open to anyone.

Heres a link to the record application form for AAAWA and is pretty self explanatory. http://www.aaawa.iinet.net.au/FishRecordApplicationForm.pdf
You can get the fish weighed by anyone with certified weights and measures scales for this one. So butcher or green grocers should be able to help out.
Have a look here http://www.aaawa.iinet.net.au/RecordsMain.html

isnt it all to do with the line weight compare to the size of the fish and species?

GFAA and ANSA rules are all

GFAA and ANSA rules are all very similar and they aren't too hard to decipher but they are line class records and with mono. as for the AAAWA i don't know, personally i'm for the fish vs the line class, no point catching the biggest fish if it's done with 80lb braid or a handline. Please note i haven't read about the snapper yet so i'm not sure what it was caught on, regarless is was a cracking pinkie for sure!
