Recreational fishing map
Submitted by spook on Mon, 2013-08-12 07:16
I had a look at the website on Scottywipers post and found this map. I think its a touch less confusing than the other map. We have all been through this discussion before so I dont see the need to do it again. This is just an informatiom post. I dont like the Labour Party and think this is a bit extreme. On the otherhand, less commercial fishing is a win.

Spook,The other map is of all
Spook,
The other map is of all the areas requested for angler lockouts by green groups, etc, plus what has been brought in.
It is designed to give you an idea of what they want...as soon as Burke announced his plans they came out and said it was just the start, and they wanted more.
People deserve to know what the green groups have asked for...make your vote count on September 7.

Assume you guys have a
Assume you guys have a different add for the marine parks but I laugh (though my wife sometimes has to restrain me from putting the remote through the TV) every time I see the one here in SA with the Brady Bunch family walking down the Port Noarlunga Jetty to enjoy the marine park. The kid is walking down the jetty complete with an illegal (oversize) crab net. At least I see the irony.
Someone book him!!
PS the map above only shows the federal marine parks and if you included the state based ones a lot of other areas are banned as well - that's certainly the case here in SA.
Bring on the state elections as well (March 2014 for SA)

The way this government has pandered to the green movement and PEW's oil dollars is a dead set disgrace.
Commercial and rec fishers can exist side by side in OZ, why? Because we have one of the best managed fisheries in the world, we don't need fluffy wuffy marine parks.
Management by exclusion is the laziest type of management going. Police the bag limits and throw the book at those that break them.
We are already importing 70% of our fish needs from other countries. Personally I'd rather eat quality Oz seafood.

When you consider state laws
When you consider state laws apply 200 nautical miles out your really realise that Labors lock outs are an ineffective waste of time because they sit inside already the state laws that do 100 fold better job of protection.
Labors lock outs are just anti-recreational fishing. $3 Billion dollars worth of Australian tourism and jobs.
When you consider the full protection of Whales, Whale Sharks, Turtles, Great Whites and all the others already, really.
Labors millions of your dollars have been wasted on drawing lines inside already protected area, the entire freaking country.
Now the corruption enquiries are getting started it will be interesting to see what happens with Labor.

Yeah so Australia has 1/4 of
Yeah so Australia has 1/4 of the worlds marine parks and Labor want to make marine parks half the worlds, one country. Its not Russia
So you have under state law 200 miles out, upper bag limits, lower bag limits, boat limits, tag limits, licences, trip limits, possession limits, upper size limits, lower size limits, spawn closures, regional limits, months closed demersal fishing, skipper licence, fishing licence.
Thats way more effective than leaving the 100% of boats to pressure the fragile pathways in between.

State and territory limit of juristiction
I think you will find that the states only have jurisdiction out to a 3 mile limit from the low water mark, I could be wrong but that is what it was a couple of years back.
The commonwealth has jurisdiction out to 200 miles from the boundary of the end of the state zone, this area is known as the Australian economic zone of jurisdiction.
