one lucky crab

Took the family out crabbing on the swan. Dropped the nets to the west of the brewery in close to the rock wall. Drifted down the channel waiting. Decided the boat wash from passing boats wasn't going to be too pleasant. Pulled the pots for one good sized blue. Moved over to the canning. ... nothing, not one crab. Moved to perth water.... nothing. That lucky crab biding his time in the live bait tank went back to be caught another day....

One better
Chucked the pots in the Fascine here in Carnarvon
5 pulls over the next4 hour resulted in 2 big blueys and only one bait needing replacing in that time.
Between runs we flicked a few baits about hoping for a whiting or two, ended up catching 12-14 small yellowtail, 2 yellowfin bream, couple of undersize flathead and endless amounts of brown slime weed.
Well as the saying goes, it doesn't matter if you are catching anything as long as you have a line in the water things are ok.

Like + 1. Good family time,
Like + 1. Good family time, even though it was only one (released) crab. Missus, kids had fun. And we're getting the silly cocker spaniel boat ready for his first trip to monkey mia in april. He's still not sure about the wobbly floor....

Hit the swan on Sat
Must of been my lucky day,
went out Sat morning, caught 11,
1 went back (female), the smallest was 1/2 inch oversize, the largest was a good 1 1/2+ over size and measured 650mm from claw tip to tip.
Was a hard slog though, we were at it for 3 1/2 hours.
