Polycraft
Took a ride in a 6m Cuddy Polycraft at the boat show. I was very impressed with the soft ride, but a little worried with the lack of steering response. It had a 150 Yamaha 4 stroke, got 22 knots at 2800RPM, and from memory 36 knots at 4900RPM, 36 knots in the seas on Saturday arvo was a bit hairy. The dealer also said it could be propped up a bit too if I can forgo some holeshot.
Does anyone have any feedback or experience on the Polycraft boats? For my mind, they seem very good boats for the price, but cannot figure why there is bugger all of them around. The steering may just be me used to a stern drive maybe. It seems to be a big delay from moving the wheel to actually changing course.
I am happy with the storage issue before anybody says that too.
Any comments are welcome.

polycraft
Theres not alot of them around but some of the guys how have them give them the thumbs up, its generally the price and no hollow gunwales for rod holders etc , i was impressed with them and found it way cheaper to order one through the broome dealer and get him to drop it off in perth , unless you know someone travelling back from Brisbane

Commercial Polycraft operator in Qld
Just read some mag a couple of months ago about the Polycraft Cuddy and C/C 5.9 that a commercial operator had them with 150 hondas on them.. I think they were 3 years old with heaps of hours on them and he stated that he was extremely happy with both of them.. They were Hire boats too so they would have been flogged.. I am interested in them also

know a few blokes with them and they all rave about them
had a good look at the boat show but was shocked at the price thet wanted......$34 for the 4.8 brumby was ridiculous.........way cheaper on the East Coast and would be better to purchase one out of Perth dealership and send it over or down as Just Dui it says.
the ride is good and they are tough. The hull is indestrucable and have seen a cruiser drive over one and no issue....One thing to note is that it is a little harder to attach accessories onto plastic compared to ali. But only an issue if you want to add things on.
I would definitely look at one if upgrading.

Thanks guys. Not surprising
Thanks guys. Not surprising there is only 2 responses. If it was about a Trailcraft I would have dozens.
I will be making some calls around the country to confirm some prices, but the Perth guys say they are moving them at cost to get them out of the yard. We will see.
Thanks again.

They have a nice soft ride
They have a nice soft ride and are tough as nails. It's a boat that I considered seriously at one stage.

Proud 5.3m Polycraft Centre
Proud 5.3m Polycraft Centre Console owner here. I know what you mean about the apparent delay when turning, i have a 4.1m side console punt before upgrading and that thing felt like it literally oversteered when cornering it was very un-natural and took some getting used to. the bigger one now i can't say i have had the same issue yet.
I have a 115hp ETEC High Output on the back and man it motors along! still haven't had it full throttle yet but 37knots is very realistic. If you get one then go for max power, they are a heavy boat and you'll save fuel with the bigger motor. Very stable machines and as you said storage isn't really an issue but i'm going to put some opadded sides on mine to lean into when fishing.
Mouning things is eaiser than any other surface, big self tapper screws is the go or cut a hole and seal whatever you put in with Lexal sealant. great boat to fitout to your requirements and don't buy from W.A i saved thousands getting mine from NSW and it was still cheaper after transport over. got my 5.3 with all the fruit including custom canopy for 44K delivered to Perth.
PM me if you want any other questions answered, the boats are indestructible and will outlast a tinny or fibreglass hull, doesn't show scratches and if you do damage it fix it with 240 grit sandpaper and a heat gun it's too easy.
Shameless plug incoming!!!!! checkout www.polyboatowners.com for a better idea of what theya re all about and some of the fitouts people have done. they just need a 6.8M cuddy cab and i'll upgrade again!

around the 7 meter mark i would have bought one in a heartbeat.I had one of the first 4 55 in tiller steer still one of the best boats i have owned.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?

I think the lack of them
I think the lack of them around the place is because they arn't a pretty looking boat, they are very plain,I think a lot of people go for the bling when buying boats, from what i have heard a great boat for the fisherman and diver, lets know how you get on.

i invested a large sum of
i invested a large sum of money 5years ago in polycraft and all the boats are terrific. but...the largest model...had a serious fault which happened over east the actual boat sat in the sun too long and warped.. they simply put it back in its mould a put it in the sun to reshape it.. i suspect the fault with the largest model because the overall weight is too heavy for the structure supports. The solution ,keep it out of the sun.
all the comments i hear about polycraft is excellent. I had a smaller model 4.5 runabout and when it came to up grade i heard this story and decided on ali.

Possibly on the wrong
Possibly on the wrong trailer Walker? there are plenty of people up north with the 5.3 and 6m models and i haven't heard of any warping of the hulls unless someone has put them on a roller style trailer which is a big no no!
