just wondering if someone can help me with some power usage calculations
if i have an appliance that uses 400watts what is my hourly consumption in $$
synergy charges 21cents per unit
i have no idea how to convert this
reason for my question is i am looking at buying a commercial ice machine and just weighing up the costs.
cheers

A lot less than buying ice at
A lot less than buying ice at the servo.
Ice machines need to be kept in a cool area and need to have very clean water. Can always just fire them up 48 hours before the fishing trip for a top up though.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?
just dhu it

Roddo , a unit that synergy
Roddo , a unit that synergy charge you is one KW per hour , 1 KW is 1000 watts , so add up your consumption , 400 watts ice machine would have to run constantly for 2.25hours to use 1 KW or 1 unit, you have to remember also that the compressor starts and stops during its running cycle.
you should actually check with a amp meter what the motor draws as some are wound for 240 volt or 220 volts which again would vary the current draw or channe the wattage, divide the wattage into the supply voltage to give the current ( amp ) draw of each unit

not sure on the model
but it holds 140kilo of ice! retails around 5 grand when i bought it but i got it second hand for 1800! i bought the bigger one so i could just pump it right up and leave it so you dont have the motor running constant!
