Puka!!
Headed out at sparrows on friday in what looked like to be a glassy day on the brine and it didnt disappoint. first drop in the deep payed off with a double hook up of trevalla and then we lined up for a day of trolling and sounding. We found groups of small mahi spread about but to no size but did see some large splashes on the surface which looks like could have been bigger fish. Activity on the bottom seemed to be sitting high on the edges and spread pretty thin. eventually we moved closer to home and after a couple of drops picked up our last fish for the bag and headed home. Had a work mate out for some first time deep drop and had him converted in no time. Had to take a second look at his hapuka as it was as fat as a bass! Awesome day out there!

Didnt lose any gear this trip
Normallly i lose a few though. Had one snag up but we managed to bounce it out. Im actually considering puting wax on the bases of my leads like how it was done in years gone by for testing the bottom type. Goes back probly a thousand years but spot on effective it seeing what type of ground your fishing. ie mud, sand, shell.
