IMO they are nice eating, but they are actually a member of the morwong family, therefore a different taste and texture to a pinkie. Nice catch on jig too :)
They are as good as pink snapper for eating. Do not worry about the brown stripe that runs down the side of the fillet, looks bad but doesn't alter the taste

got this one on a fcl labo
got this one on a fcl labo jig (hanging out the mouth!) but i have caught on in 100metres on paternoster,
This one tasted real good - similar flesh to pinkie
