Raymarine support and the dragon fly.
Following all the hype i went out and purchased the dragonfly unit to put it thru its paces.
The transducer cable length was not long enough so i ordered and recieved the extension cord. The set up is a little different in that transducer has its own seperate power supply cable which is the same as in the origina transducerl cable. Logic should mean that you just tape up the original power leads and use the extension power leads. Having purchased marine electronics over the past 45 years experince has taught me not to assume anything and to get the info from the manufacturer .
Naturally the extension came with no instructions neither did the limited supplied manual nor the more extensive manual on the ray marine on line site, have any relevent info. Armed with this i called the Australian tech support center, well the service agent did not even know that an extension cable was available let alone how to wire it, not to worry his manager would contact me, i left my number and and email, with no contact after 2 days i rang and was told that they did not know but they had contacted the manufacturer and they would respond, a week later with no response i rang back to be told the agent handling the request was on the phone and he would ring later which of course he did not do, neither did he send an email.
Faced with this high level of service i contacted the U.S. service center only to be told that i should contact my local distributer as they did not handle overseas requests. This is the same level of incompetance that i have experienced with the Garmin brand in Australia. Two weeks later i am no further in .this great quest to answer the simpliest of questions .For the record this unit is built to a price, the golden statement of you only get what you pay for is very relevent here, a cheaper chinsier flimsy model, would be hard to find. The mounting system is a case in point, it is basically non functional, designed to fall out and hopefully break your head unit as soon as possible. EVERY THING ABOUT THE DESIGN And construction is AS CHEAP AS IT GETS .
I have yet to test it on the water, if i can ever find some one to verify how to properly set it up. The lesson here is pay peanuts and expect a monkey service. The sad thing is that when it was owned by the Brits this was a quality company with an excellent service record, how times change. I will eventually sort it out and give the heads up on what its like compared to the Lowrance down scan and Humminbird down vision.

Wow i found it the easiest
Wow i found it the easiest possible install ive done? Yes the power cable is included in the transducer but then again this product is aimed for smaller boat and tinnies. Whats so bad about it ? How hard could the extension possibly be ? Post us some pictures and we will try and help.
Im my review i said i threw my bracket in the bin, but all you have to do to fix it is 2 small stainless bolts, annoying i totally agree but you get that. I chose to flush mount mine anyway.
And i it's the best $600 ive ever spent. So far i have not used it to its potential but even if i never use it deeper than 20m i will be stoked!!

raymarine dragonfly
I was able to resolve my problem, one of my u.s contacts rang Raymarine support in the u.s and was able to find some one who actually was helpfull, apparantly my initial guess was right, you do wire the power loom from the extension cable to the battry and under no circumstances at the transducer end. Resondants to my post seem to be oblivous to my complaint ,that is when you try to get simple support to a non complex request the australian agent could not be bothered to support thier product. Heaven help any one who has a serious problem. Thanks Vinesh for your offer of support ,glad i was able to sort it out and if my info helps some one out so much the better, and by the way if you do connect it at the wrong end you will burn out the head unit which of course is ...not covered by warranty. The reason why those clowns over east could not care less is that so many aussies accept this level of service which seems to be the accepted standard.
