Hi all, thinking of hitting up some rivers/dams in the southwest for some redfin. As I normally fish Ocean/ Estuary I don't know much about freshwater fishing but while the weather is shite I might give it a go, just want to know if its worth it this time of year and what lures you freshwater anglers are using? Im guessing bug type lures and even my bream lures would produce fish? any advice welcome

Lures and soft plastics
Preferably worked from a canoe so you can work the snags whilst not being actually in them - once the rivers dirty up then bait, worms and small minnows work exceptionally well - there is goodf bank fishing around Dwellingup particularly this time of the year as the new fresh stirs em up

I've been thinking the same thing, anyone know any spots within an hour or so of Busso? I've been told any lure with gold or red or spinners are the go. So sick of winter!

this time of year you need a
this time of year you need a lure that goes deep. soft plastics, big divers and spinner baits are good. redfin are not fussy, if its moving they will eat it. just get it deep

Jiggy jig .....
dams would go well with a jig. it can be any weight you have, just get the size at about 75mm . the rivers will have reddies lying around snags and deeper pools, try to match a soft plastic that looks like a maron. beweare of softies that have big/long tails as you wont hook up. i find 35mm in any fish shape ok but maron look alike are best. slow sink rate is very important. look fowad to seeing a few photos posted, best of luck.

Reddies are pigs, I've found plenty of kilo plus jobbies choking on 5-6" Perch hanging out their gob. Go large.
