Reel advise (jigging)

Hi all,

Good day, i am pretty new to this forum, hoping to get some advise on reel to match my rod which i got it off a member here (Ryan).

Rod : kamikaze warlord  sp 165 pe8 jig rod

My budget is around $300bucks, and i am hoping to get a lighter reel than the 1 i have now ( Finnor 7500, weights 900g), and has a line capacity of 250-300m on 70lb braided line.

So ar i am considering a few reels, Saltist 6500, Saragosa 8000 (less line capacity i think?)or Exceler 5000.

Any other reel suggestions?

Thanks.

Personally i would not run more then 60lbs through that rod due to breakages, doesnt mean its a bad rod though, just a heads up.

Go a Saragosa 18000, still lighter at 805grams but bigger line capacity. Get some PE6-80lb braid, will take around 450m or so.

Saragossa

Wed, 2011-02-16 21:44

Iv got a Saragosa 8000 and cant fault it, definately a good value for money reel, with a waterproof drag system and 10yr warranty :) Its the same physical size as the 6000 but with a bigger spool. Smooth as reel too. I would look at putting tournament 8 accu Depth PE braid by daiwa although it may blow your budget, but fishing heavy PE, this has a phenominally small diametre. Otherwise i wouldnt go over pe 3 for normal braided line...

Elora Danan is flogging a Sustain 8000 loaded with 30 lb accudepth and another spool with pe4 YGK Jigman for 300 bucks.

maybe a bit light on for the rod,  but great value for money and well within the budget.

Jigging reel

A few good reels mentioned above, most within your price range.

Another good value reel to look at is the Okuma Salina II 16000. Lightweight and powerful.
