Repainting outboard cowl - what paint to use
Hi crew
doing a pre-season spruce up to the CC and after glassing up (from the inside) a few major cracks in them am looking to respray my upper and lower cowls on the donk.
I have bought a new sticker set ex EBAY USA and was looking at what I could use to respray the cowls with - would Dupli-colour (Ex repco etc) or automotive acrylic spray cans last?
I don't want to invest a fortune in it but I also don't want it looking faded and chalky after one summer in the sun.
Paint in the pic below looks ok - but that's only because its wet after being rubbed back!
Any painting ideas welcome - (had considered painting the cowls matt black to avoid the fade but apparently matt still fades and becomes patchy!)
cheers
ps - not a great shot but thanks again to SEAKEM from knocking up a new Ali frame for my Baitboard :-)

stay away from any cheap
stay away from any cheap stuff. best spending a bit more and get decent paint and a clear coat from a auto paint place.

Have you thought about Vinyl wrap?

no to vinyl - its not cheap
no to vinyl - its not cheap and it seems to peel easily if not done properly !
In terms of paint - not looking at buying "export" brand spray from Bunnings for 3 bucks but at the same time if buying the automotive repair paints is a waste of time I might take it to a local spray shop for a touch up

already bought the stickers
already bought the stickers :-(
+ I have never understood covers in terms of what they add - I had a polar 23 a few years back that had twin 4st yams which had covers - the covers were faded but the outboard cowls looked like new - great - except the covers had worn through the paint on the corners and along the top of the cowl....!

hi mate - solid colour -
hi mate - solid colour - thanks for the offer - for the amount of my time and effort $180 is a good deal - however I am a long way from your shop and quite time poor :-(
I have a local panel shop that I will swing by, it will be a different job for them from the usual replacing the back bumper on the cruiser after the wife has backed into something....
