Report, landbased anglers.

Have just got off the phone to a mate that works basically on the water at north mole, he said for the last 2 days in a row on his way home from work he has seen a couple of decent schools right off the rocks near the cafe. Atleast 20m wide. They are reported to be bonito in the average size range. However this cant be confirmed because only one fish has been pulled from the schools, but this does say that they are all bonnies. Starting to get in a little earlier this year. Good for some guys chasing some light line fun. Just a heads up for people down that way as they may be still hanging around. Cheers Chris.

Hopefully they are bonito!

I thought the run ended around may-june.
This years bonito run ran till pretty late into the salmon season this year.
I remember hookin salmon and bonito in the same day at northmole :)

Hope this is true and they are here early. I kept a couple and bled them strait away and cooked em up same day with soy sauce lemon etc. Tasted great!!!!

Might need to just go down and suss things out. Must be something substantial enough to be 20m thick.

My reels screaming zzzzzzz.... awwww damn it, its another boat!

All the best for the future fishing trips.

Pinged 3 Salmon Trout but lost them up the rocks. Had one close to 2kgs and good little battle on the Bream gear. I was just using small metal slices 15g and casting around. Ohh yeah, landed a legal size Tailor.

A Salmon Trout!

Fri, 2007-10-12 16:16

It's related to Australian Salmon looks almost exactly the same but the Salmon Trout has golden spots on them and with the Australian Salmon it has black or darker spots on them. But yeah, they don't grow as big as their relatives but boy they know how to pull you off the rocks.

Ohh yeah people, correct me if I'm wrong the discriptions!
