River Fishing for the family

First of all, Hi guys, new here, enjoyed fishing as a kid but I rarely find the time to go out.
Now I have kids of my own who like fishing and I want to take them out to the river, I live NoR near Mindarie so I'm in between the swan and moore rivers. Does anyone know of nice spots I can take the family this time of year, I'll probably go in the evening? I'm using rods with spinning reels and have very little idea on what tackle and baits to use.

Moore River is great fun for the kids
Stay up near the mouth (maybe a couple of Ks up from there). From the shore use a very light rig and a sliding ball sinker. I use fresh Mullet pieces because they work and stay on. Prawns are always a winner although you will be baiting up regularly. Heaps of grunters up there so be paitient. A bite from anything is better than no bites at all. Especially where the kids are involved. For more serious fish up there I head up river but you need to know where you are going and in fact where you are allowed to go without a farmer pointing a gun at you LOL.
A great family day is to take kyaks up the river and fish that way. Seems your kids may be a bit young for that though and the missus need to be seaworthy LOL.

From the maps it seems the best family area (young kids) would be near the caravan park. Picked up a Penn reel with a custom 12ft rod (might be 13ft) today, my old man was using his surfski and saw it floating in the ocean. There was a port jackson on the end of the line. I'm guessing that would be overkill in this area.

Pulled a rod out of the surf
Pulled a rod out of the surf today, it had a penn spinning real attached, the rod is about 12ft with no brand names or markings so I assume it was custom made, but probably wrong. When the line was pulled in there was a small port jackson shark on it.
Anyway, I have a few smaller rods I can take up there. I see theres a small spot at the end of Barragoon Rd I could check out, I can't see any other areas I could get to without a 4wd

moore river
Mate any where in front of the parking lot is good enough , just look for where there is a drop off. Just to the left of the boat ramp is a flat section of rock to fish off and the water is slightly deeper there, iv always managed to catch a heap in that area. If u want to fish metro - garret rd bridge is good , there is a little play area for the kids if they get bored ..... lots of small bream with a few bigger ones in between .
