Rottnest Salmon - Unseen Video Footage

This is some old footage that I hadn't made up of the Rottnest Salmon Run. It was a day of pure chaos were we landed countless numbers of salmon on light gear, heavy gear, trolling, spinning and at one stage there were so many they were almost jumping into the boat. There was heaps of footage so I cut a lot of it and keep some of the good bits. Just for Bolts I left the rod snapping footage out.... :) Not the best video I've made, but entertaining none the less.

The old "Put the polorized sunnies over the camera lenz" Trick!

Wed, 2006-08-09 20:31

Great footage guys, I will have to remember that one on those bright sunny days, you certainly get a better look at the fish that way. Wonder how much a polorised filter cap would cost?

Ads, you are going to have to show me how to get the slow mo working using Windows Movie Maker, it looks great for action shots like that.

Nice vid.

Cheers

Slow mo

When you are adding titles to the movies, there are options underneath which are video transitions and video effects. When you choose transitions you can adjust the effects between the clips. When you choose effects you can add a variety of features. I think you can right mouse click on the scene you want to modify and there should be an option to add an effect. I have one version of movie maker on my normal pc which is easy to use and one on my work pc which is extremely difficult to navigate around. Let me know if you have any luck.

I got a quote for a polarised lens cap before Exmouth but can't find it now. Gully showed me the sunnies trick and it works pretty well considering its free. Think the cap was between $100-160, can't remember off hand thou.

Polorizing filter

Fri, 2006-08-11 13:59

Andy i think u will find that the polarizing filters are quite cheap. I picked one up for my digital SLR and it only cost $60, so i recon they would be about the same if not a bit cheaper for vid cameras, given that it is a smaller diam.
u can also pick up UV filters which are handy for protecting your lens as well as cutting out a bit of glare and they are about $30 or $40 i think. Go to a camera house shop they have every type of filter you can think of in all sizes.
Cheers.

Might just do that

Thanks Gribbo, but I still like the inventiveness of using your sunnies, I should have mentioned that in my last FWA article about being inventive. A great little trick, just got to remember not to use my prescription sunnies, or the only one that will be able to see what is going on will be me. (Hehehe)
