Sailfish vs Shark(vid)

You can thank Blake T. for this footage from his recent steep point trip. I uploaded the video but he gets the credit for filming it, quite an amazing but short video.

Would have hated seeing the saily eaten by a NOAH. Good rock shots saved the sail.

Glad to see the sailfish got away from that big bitey. Great video Blake - that would be a memory that will stick with you for a lifetime.

We used to have similar issues when spinning for maccies up there in particular when ol Jingles was around ( and still Is today).

But for the sharks when we were close to the cliff face and the sharks were conming in for the kill we just simply used to flick the bail arm over into free spool and let the maccy just go for a run and this would draw the shark away. We had a 100% success catch rate when we did it.

Too swift for the old noah - even after the long fight.

I watched it in the store

and I was saying to Blake  why doesn't he cut the line and give the sail a chance? LOL, apparently it was cut free but knackered and hindered by the balloon.

Like everyone here, I was glad to see it swim off OK.

Great vid Blake and yes cutting the line was the best thing to do!

The fastest fish in the ocean the Sailfish, can reach speeds of 110kph and was still able to do bog laps around the shark with it being hooked up/hindered!

thanks guys i was pretty happy with the footage, but also thanks to josh for doing an awesome job editing my dodgy camera work and making it look half decent. The line was cut after we got it to the rocks for a pic, but then the shark appeared and the saily was to tired to do a bolt and also having the balloon attached didnt help. But the rocks did the trick and we watched the sail swim off for a few hundred metres before it went deep and the balloon line snapped and the balloon flew away, so the fish should be still alive and kicking well.
