does anyone use or have used the old seamartin reels. when I was about 15yo I got a brand new seamartinII from a local tackle shop down south, filled it with 20lb mono and took it for a spin. I found that the line use to get twisted after using it for a while. I haven't used it since. i'm thinking of dusting off the cobwebs and giving it another go. What are your opinions of the old seamartin?

Twist
Try using the smallest box swivels for the line class you want to use and preferably use 2 on the main line like recommended for Alvey reels

the best
tough as reel built old school tough I had 1 and wish I still had it as carnarvonite says use some swivels , they put the line on the spool in a weave fashion when first spooling them I found you needed to get a mate to hold on as tight as he could to the line while you were loading the reel for best results
