similarities in weather

just wondering how many of you are finding more similarities in the weather from the north down to the south. we seem to be getting the humid weather more and more along with the quite warm waters around metro, not quite like the north but getting there.

Broome weather
Here in Carnarvon have been having Broome weather since before xmas.34-35 every day with humidity not going under 65% in that time and most days having a late afternoon thunderstorm. None os the usual SE turning SW 15-30 knot winds that blow from September through till mid March, its been Ne turning NW/SW .
A real pain in the armpit I can tell you.

they should look at putting in a channel
Between Carnarvon and Perth.Would solve your flooding, boost our dams, supply irrigation all the way down and flush the swan in one move.If it doesnt change down here soon the avon descent will be a 4x4 race.
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?

yeah Barnies great dream that
yeah Barnies great dream that got sunk by petty politics.
They said the same when the Kal pipe line was to be built nearly 120 yrs ago, When first fronted in 1890~1894 by Sir John Forrest & CY O'Connor. They called them mad and had to fight off the nayeee sayers. But both had balls and did it.
Today we need his grand son Twiggy Forrestor to step up to the plate, those that have worked with him, know how he is...
He would just build it and get it done like grandaddy did...
So 120 years ago they all thought a pipeline to Kal was maddness, could not be done, did not have the skills, did not have the pumps...etc..
yet started in 1896, finished in 1903 it opened up the Gold Fields.
quote"
The scheme was devised by C. Y. O'Connor who oversaw its design and most of the construction project. Although supported by Premier Forrest, O'Connor had to deal with widespread criticism and derision from members of the Western Australian Parliament as well as the local press based on a belief that scope of the engineering task was too great and that it would never work. There was also a concern that the gold discoveries would soon dry up and the state would be left with a significant debt to repay but little or no commerce to support it.
Sunday Times editor Frederick Vosper - who was also a politician, ran a personal attack on O'Connor's integrity and ability through the paper. Timing was critical, Forrest as a supporter had moved into Federal politics, and the new Premier George Leake had long been an opponent of the scheme.
O'Connor committed suicide in March 1902 less than 12 months before the final commissioning of the pipeline. Lady Forrest officially started the pumping machinery at Pumping Station number one on the 22 January, and on 24 January 1903 water flowed into the Mount Charlotte Reservoir at Kalgoorlie. O'Connors' engineer-in-chief, C. S. R. Palmer took over the project after his death, seeing it through to its successful completion.
The government conducted an inquiry into the scheme and found no basis for the press accusations of corruption or misdemeanours on the part of O'Connor

and today we stand with computers and say, naaaa not going to happen..
Bit like Kenndy did not ask the people of america if he couls go to the moon, he told them YOU are going to the moon, and with log tables, slide rules and drawing paper they got there.
Today all the present NASA computer models say the Atlas rockets would not safely get there and back.... so would never fly under todays rules...let alone go back to the moon!
And thats why the Chineese or Indians will be the next to step on the moon and not a western democracy floundering under comittees, computer models and bickering for d!ck swinging rights...
We becoming a western civilisation of pussies and cry-babies. Frontiers are there to be challenged and some will give up their lives for the greater good of man kind if they choose to do so.
I take my hat of to Twiggy Forrest, with his flaws, warts and all....he gets it done
name me one great thing our present bunch of croney leaders have done???? Somethng the world has sat up and said yes thats an Engineering marvel???
high speed trains...nope
great bridges ...nope
great dams... nope
nope high super structures ...nope
a harbour port on a grand scale...nope
ok how about a world leading airport... naaa not even close
Got to ask oursleves WHY... we got the brain power, the muscle, the funds from a boom, the will in a nation ot strive & survive...
So build the bloody cannal, build a city in the north, build a rail way from Broome to Perth and stick the cannal right along side it while you doing it,
not rocket science, rail line will carry the goods need / machnery to fet a cannal through and then all along the water way life will prosper.
last word...

Agreed, but don't stuff
Agreed, but don't stuff around with a canal, just build a pipeline. If they can go 600km in 1898 then 2500km will be no dramas now.

dem global warming guru's
dem global warming guru's would say we all going to experience a latitude shift in conditions...
Perth has been like Kalbarri for nearly two months now, hot over 35deg and humid, eastly winds pushing hot desert air over the hills into the metro.
Where I'm at the moment in the Pilbara just south of Port Headland it's hot humid and the wettest in years, greenery every where and big ponds of standing water.
And no sign of change coming soon with more whirlies coming, the monsoon trough getting stronger and wider...
Whats next snow in December F#@!$% knows these days

Im with you all the way Tony.
Im with you all the way Tony. WA has become one of the most difficult places to get anything 'regulation' achieved, let alone someone with an 'out there' idea.
Too much money is directed into too many minority areas, supported by too many minority groups. It seems that the latest vogue by the big kids is to support projects that are easy targets, ones that wouldnt actually be deemed do or die, political suicide if you like. Kevin Costner made a movie - build it and they will come. It seems that our state leaders havent been to any other cities in Oz to see how ordinary places run.
If there was an election tomorrow, I have no-one to vote for. I dont like any of them.
One party spending all of the money, the other chasing its tail whining about the other party, and the tail that wags the dog - the greens - instigating one of the most rediculous western world 'non-taxes' ever seen!
Anyway, I hope this storm doesnt ruin the AIBT/Gamex!
....Sorry for my rant - It is a fair bit off topic.

start now
agree with Tony , send a crew up north with some dozzers and pipe and just start and pay as we go , its only going to be cheaper today than tomorrow, the government contracted a local company to build a new stadium in Perth and no set cost , the company just keeps sending in the VOs and cost over run are huge , so lets just start making a pipe line now , may take 3 /4 years but at least we will get there

Yep totally agree with all
Yep totally agree with all the comments. It really shits me that they didn't take the opportunity with the last boom to start something. Your right Just Dhu it. do it section by section and open up the north. Look at China at the moment with their engineering projects. They are building their economy as they go.
Love the West!

Dont worry about the Canal or pipeline
Soon the weather down south will be monsoonal and there will be plenty H2O!!
Only joking but with the odd seasons who the hell knows what the future holds.
