Sliding with Saragosa 20000+

Howdy all,

Been traditionally sliding with a Beachmaster OH with Torium 30 running 50lb braid/150m 50lb mono topshot and 150lb wind on leader.

Recently purchased a Beachmaster Spin and planning on pairing it with Gosa 20000 or 25000.  Looking at sliding with this setup as well.  Just looking for recommendations how heavy a wind on I can fit on this setup.

Cheers,

 Shouldn't need to go much

Shouldn't need to go much more than 100lb, anything over 80 will tend to "jump" off the spool unless you keep tension which can be a pain.

If you run say 100lb windon and then a sort length of 1.4mm leader just above your stopper ring you should be right for almost anything you'll hook on that setup.

I guess what you are targeting and what size baits you'll be sliding will greatly influence the strength of leader needed. Experiment with a few and see how you go.

Makes sense not to go above 100lb.

What sort of knot are we looking at to join the 100lb Windon to a 1.4mm leader?  1.4mm should be about 200lb by the sounds of it.

Yep, around 200lb. I use a double uni knot on the rare occasion I use an extra length of leader.

I'm generally running 0.60mm mono topshot to around 8m of 1.00mm (100lb) mono leader which I join using a double uni and run straight through to the stopper ring and hasn't failed me yet.

Going by the description of the rig you plan on using I'm guessing that something very big has given you the business and you plan on a bit of "getting even". LOL
