Smith jigging rod, which one to choose ???

So Im looking at buying a jigging rod to match up to a saltiga exp 6500 running 80Lb braid. Decided on another smith rod but unsure which one to get, this is the two ive kinda narrowed it down to, wondering peoples thoughts on which way to go... KInda leaning towards the frist one even though it is slightly more expensive....

The AMJ-S52EX is a light, potent jig stick made for larger spinning reels.

The AMJ "Armour Graphite for Jig" series is characterised by their light weight, fine diameter though durable blanks.

This model suits anglers wishing to have a grunty jig stick though do not want to go to the heavier PE8+ rods.

Targets include all tropical coral dwellers, cobia, amberjacks, yellowtail kingfish and medium sized dogtooth on PE 4-8 braid.

WGJ-S56H

The WGJ series of jig rods are constucted using the latest generation (WG21) of glass which is 60% lighter as well as being stronger than conventional glass rods. The S56LH is a single piece rod with Fuji Sic guides and a medium fast action. It is suited to lines from from 3-6PE (30-90lb braid) and has a max load rating of 14kg.

The 56H and 52EX are very different rods mate. Basically the H is a genuine almost pe4 rod for lighter jigging, it is longer which means you could possibly get away with rabbas and the like

the EX will comfortably jig heavier lures and heavier line. It is probably right in the slot at a pe 6 rod although as they say pe4-8(pushing it) it is shorter and more suited to knife style jigs

The info on the 56H is a little confusing...on the same website they state 2 different things...one sentence says its for pe 3 - 6 and another sentence says suited 4 - 8. When spending fairly big money you want to make sure its fit for purpose you know...

Both say theyre suited to 400 gram jigs,

I think the 52EX is the one ill go for, the more i think about it the more it seems like the way to go.

There must be an error then.

There must be an error then. Correct specs on Australian angling.

56M - PE3-5 - 230g
54H - PE3-6 - 280g
52EX - PE4-8 400g

I've got the first and the last. Havent used the 54H yet. Was wondering whether to get that instead of the EX, but went the EX for less overlap with the 56M and also being able to handle heavier jigs. I'd be surprised if the 54H couldnt do a little over spec on the jigweight though. Not sure about the 54H, but the 56M is quite light in the tip (which is something I wanted so i can work lighter jigs on heavier gear), while the EX seems stronger throughout. Probably best to load up the 54H and 52EX and see what feels better or does what you want better. On paper the drag setting doesnt sound much different, (only 2kg diff) but you should be able to feel a difference.

Great stuff!

Good on ya mate, trust me you wont be dissapointed!!!. absolutely awesome rods, they have a nice softish tip which gives you a wider range of weights of jigs that the rod will happily work and they certainly lock up when when you need to put the hurt on. Great rods the Nirai, I also like the length of them from butt to reel seat which is slightly shorter than most which prevents most people having to bend your back to reach the reel (especially for the shorter anglers).

I've never had the chance to see a Nirai in the flesh before, but they sound like sweet rods! If you ever get the chance, post up some pics of your new weapon!
