The big benefit with SSDs

Fri, 2009-09-18 19:47

The big benefit with SSDs which do run in things like sounders is the current harddrives are a bit like the old record player where as the Solid State Drives have no moving parts.  They have become realistic in price so you can run a laptop in the car on corrugations with much less chance of stuffing up the computer.

Memory sticks which hold 100 times your current computer. Its exciting.

I have an SSD in my notebook, 64GB.  It's pretty fast to boot and read files.  Things to be aware of is that you can only do so many writes to the drive, save as a USB thumb drive, same technology.  Also, they are faster at reading then writing so if you have intensive write requirements then stick to the SATA/SAS technology.
