Some people need shooting/Auto gas problem
Been having a spot of trouble with the gas on the cruiser. Will start but cuts out straight away. So after a couple of days of drinking unleaded I took it to TOPLINE GAS IN WANGARA. for someone to look at. Left the car there for a couple of hours for them to check it out and on returning was told that the condenser and the mixer needed replacing and would set me back $1000 +. Well I needed a little time to think about it as you would and decided to get a second opinion. took the car down to ALLGAS CONVERSIONS unit 4/4 Packard Street Joondalup and he looked it over straight away. I bet it took him 15 minutes and problem was solved. Faulty switch and best part it cost me $60. I rang the other mob back today and told them. Their best comeback was mmmmmmm missed that one. I wonder how often this happens and how many fall for it. Im sure they will lose some business from that f^^%$# up. Word of mouth is a powerful thing.

With the ever increasing
Glad you didnt get scammed, but with the ever increasing cost of living, it is only a matter of time when someones morality gets tested and try to scam others, i used to work in mechanical industry all i can say is dogdy dodgy dodgy also the pricing of things can be rediculous from trade to normal consumer, where some parts cost only $100 trade price and up to $250-300 for normal consumer, makes me wonder about other trades.

in there defence
Have been taking my car to them for 8 years and never had anything but great service and reasonable prices . They did my conversion and all the tune ups and service from then on . There is an old saying , "sometimes even a monkey falls out of the tree" . Can understand your frustration but maybe it was an honest mistake ? Anyway I hope it was .

I've been going there
for years since i got my 03 100 series.
They didn't install it, but have always tuned and serviced. it and touch wood, have not had any issues to date.
I think, no matter where you go every business will have a time that they fail. Its the same with everything. you will never find a system / method that is perfect.
The best name boats / motors on the market have issues every now and then. As a consumer, yeah it pisses us of, but if the business is respectable they will acknowledge it and help.
I think once you start hearing a few consistant reports then its time to be concerned.
Gas is a joke at the moment anyway. $1.16 p/lt in exxy at the moment. Good job i dont do much driving in my car around town ! if you want something to complain about, have a go at the govt. Encouraging us to get the systems installed and then not keeping the costs down.
ive got two choices up here. rip the gas system out of my car or tap into the dampier to bunbury pipeline !

Being smarter than the average bear...
certainly helps not being ripped off glad you had a win..." every business will have a time they fail " hmm....usually the case is they already have more than enough work and its lets see if he/she takes the bait ...its epidemic everywhere in perth...if you have been a regular loyal customer then they may do the the righty and look after you..its the way it is unfortunately ....could be a new mechanic ,sparky or a dentist etc..word of mouth is the go...but alot of times people and thats me included just pay because of time restraints they have you by the knackers...ouch...Paul G... Good Onya

Good on ya for passing on the
Good on ya for passing on the info! ppl in customer service industries need to realise how fast word of mouth travels these days.... Im in a sticky situation regarding some fishing gear, whether it is handled well or poorly I will be passing on the word! Not a heap of money involved but the outcome could affect not only my future dealings with this business but potentially many other ppls.
Perhaps when over a grand in repairs is involved it would be best to double check and avoid having to throw the "oops missed it" excuse. Mistake or intentional not good enough IMO

I had the same experiance with the Auto Barn Shop in Morley when the air con stopped on the Falcon earlier this year they told me the compressor was stuffer and neeeded a new one and other new bits 1400$ so i got a second oppinion Balajura Auto Electric's 100$ bucks and about 1/2 and hour and its still working now. So i would never go to Auto Barn Morley and am now a new fan of Balajura Auto electrics the bloke ther was great

I used to have a VS commodore
I used to have a VS commodore on Gas brought it new and had the factory gas system fitted. Later had problems starting it when cold in the mornings and took it back to the dealer I bought it from. They had it overnight as the problem was only in the morning. Next morning they started it but couldn't find the problem. Wanted to charge me $100 (for trying to start it no less), I asked what for you can't even tell me the problem. Stupid lady told me this was because it was an aftermarket Gas system. Told her if it is I want to know why because you fitted it. she was unable to answer. virtually stole my car back (grabbed my keys and refused to pay the $100). took it to a gas place around the corner. He to couldn't find the problem but didn't want to charge a thing as he "hadn't done anything". IN the end I took it to a battery dealer and had them check the battery - yep battery was on the way out and on cold mornings didn't have enough grunt to operate the switches. replaced the battery and problem solved. Never taken any of my cars to a major dealer since.
any decent mechanic should be looking for the simple/obvious problems first and ruling them out.

yes word of mouth is a powerful thing. Very true, mouths can be so powerful as to get those that open them too loud in alot of trouble. Lets hope the gasman's old boy aint a retired QC with time on his hands.
