South Passage, Shark Bay
Submitted by Rick on Mon, 2010-04-26 12:11
Our original Holiday plans were thrown out the door on Thursday, so we have decided to tow the boat to Denham for a week.
Have fished the top end of Dirk Hartog before, but never been over to South Passage for a fish. From what I can find to read it seems it mostly Pelagics throuh the passage, so plenty of trolling.
Just wondered if the bottom fishing is as good, or are we better to fish the shoals north of DH
Be there from the 3rd May for 7 nights but can stay a few more days if the weather is good
Plenty of work to do now to make sure trailer an boat are ready to go.....

south passage
holds all sorts of species and BB is good dependent on the sea/weather conditions.
troll for pelagics and you will find ground I'm sure
just a matter of getting out and exploring and if the weather is crap get in behind DHI
good luck

Top fishing
I go to steep point regularly and the south passage is our main fishing ground, you will get anything from pink snapper, baldies, black snapper and spangled emporers to all sorts of tuna and mackeral while trolling but have found trolling along the cliff faces of steep bring the best results rather that inside the fault line. But wouldnt rule out anything up there, also lots of different sharks, cobia and cods. Good luck.
