Spearfishing Dongara/Geraldton.

Heading up there for the June long weekend, anyone know of some decent places? Have a boat so can get -pretty- much anywhere.

Cheers,

Lath

Plenty of places to spear in gero mate. Atm we got the dhuies moving into the shallows to breed , plenty of trout around & baldies in the right area. Spanish are starting to slowly thin out but with persistance in the right areas you will still get them.

What size boat are you diving out of?

Pensioners is always worth a crack , it gets flogged fairly hard but if u find the right ground there are good fish to be had. its one of the better spots for pelagics in town also. depth varies from 8-10m flat sandy weed stuff and the odd large ledge ontop to the drop off into 16-18m which is where the majority of good fish are seen.

Straight out from the lighthouse some decent areas - check your charts

Sth Gates is always ok depending on swell

African Reef is good also but be very careful if you havnt been here~! it also cops a hammering from lineo's and divers alike so u really need spots to goto instead of hunting blind.

North of town off drummonds is some ok spots but i havnt done alot of diving up there as yet

How are you with sharks? pensioners and african has some ripper tigers that get very friendly , African has its fair share of whalers aswell due to the number of crayfisherman down that way.

Any more questions give me a buzz mate... im not gonna hand out co ordinates or anything as ive worked very hard to get what ive got but im more than willing to point you in the right direction :)

Hopefully im heading to the abrolhos friday afternoon otherwise id take you out myself

cheers poddy

My mate and I are looking to head over to the Abrolhos at some stage for a spear. I have done a fair bit of research but I would be keen to here how you go about the trip.

Cheers

Thanks Poddy.We're heading

Thanks Poddy.

We're heading down Friday till Monday for a Fish/Spearfish, the two people I am going with aren't big spearo's so I may be diving alone, little bit daunting.

I'm okay with Sharks, as long as they're not TOO friendly, that may change if I am diving alone. Going to check the weather out later today and see if I can find a decent forecast, going to be staying with my Uncle, he's got a 6mt Run-around boat, nothing spectacular.

Just hoping the weather pulls through, if your abrolos trip falls through, give me a yell on 0415074325.
