If you could only take 1 x rod/reel combo for land based fishing at steep point - what would it be?

And.... +1
If? You scratch the gear - like who doesn't on trips like Steep - you won't loose sleep. Spinning weight might be a consideration.

I've got a 10 foot Snyder
I've got a 10 foot Snyder FT120 6 wrap, this things a broom stick, combine that with a Deep spool Alvey and it make a bloody brilliant balooning rig...... old tech and a bit heavy but relatively cheep and most importantly almost indestructable..

Spinning and bottom bouncing
Spinning and bottom bouncing is all I do. And 99% of all my fishing is at Steep Point.
9ft Graghcast 2 and Van Staal VS150, filled with 13Kg Braid. Total weight 17oz. Spin with it all day and the bottom bounce all night.
Tip when bottom bouncing with braid. If you catch something skull brag it for the first 10-15 reel turns, just get it away from the rocks. Then panic and try and skull drag it some more. Good Luck.

For spinning I'm using a
For spinning I'm using a Wilson live fiber (cant remember the model but its about a 8-12KG class) and use a Penn 560 slammer.... but if i need something with even more pulling power I've also got a snyder 10foot FT120 5wrap which I add on either my Penn 850ssm or even the 950ssm, but i mainly use this stick for bottom bouncing, its a bit heavy to spin with all day... havn't put the live fibre on the scales but rigged up its not very heavy.
If I'm balooning I'm also spinning, i just put the big stick in the tube and wait for the scream of either the drag or the wife then I stop spinning and run over :)

Ryan C the beauty of fishing
Ryan C the beauty of fishing at Steep in Feb/March is that the wind is rarely the wrong direction for ballooning. http://www.eldersweather.com.au/wa/gascoyne/denham I'm assuming you have been to Steep at some stage and know the wind direction required.
Burley it and they will come.

steep (Howa Hunter)
i dont want to start this into one of the normal stupid rant and rave sessions but he did say "what 1 outfit would you take" so personally i like to do all types of fishing when i have been to either quobba or steep point or anywhere landbased for that matter, so MY ideal outfit would be as described above. cheers

No offense intended
No worries its all good. I wasn't having a go just wanted to give some more info. I agree a versitile outfit would definitely be the best one to take. I have ballooned with my Penn 950ssm before which I would use for spinning as well (if the wind wasn't right). Holds about 600m of 50lb braid so it was quite handy.
