Steep point Groper

Got a steep trip coming up soon so was going through old photos and film from our trip last year. thought i would share this pic which was off my go pro. pic quality not the best as ive just taken a screen pic off computer with my phone.  i tied rope to the go pro and kept throwing it off the cliffs and got some really good footage of trevally, the groper, turtles and many more. the groper has a lure hanging from his mouth from eating a mackrel.

Lucky he didn't eat the camera-:-)my major worry with dropping the Gopro down is having something take a liking to the little flashing red light. It happened once, but fusilier's don't count . We tried lowering it down 10 fathoms in 15 fathoms off Winderabandi Point last year--left it for five minutes, and apart from the fusilier, all we got was whalesong. What a racket! The humpback highway is a noisy place that time of year. We did get underwater footage of a very large potato cod that came off the bottom in deeper water to investigate a 1.5metre+ blacktip we had hooked--he was bigger than the shark.
Did you post that footage up anywhere-I'd like to see it. The gopro has added a whole other aspect to fishing--mine would spend more time underwater than above it.

Yeh he got real close to the camera at one stage and i had to quickly pull it up. the little fish were attratched to the little flashing light like you said. i always drop mine over the side out from hillaries and have wrasse and yellow tail picking at the lense. havent got the footage up as im not the best on computers and it really needs editing.
