To Stradic 2500/3000FJ owners what Rod are you using?

Just thought id post this up to see what other Stradic 2500/3000FJ owners are running as their rod.

Just looking at buying a 3000 FJ for myself(want the extra line capacity for when i use it out in the boat) and wanted to see what the most common rods others are using.

I intend to use this combo for Small Barra, Saratoga, Tarpon up north. Bream, Trout, and Flatties down here. And for Skippy and Snapper out in the boat. I know there are difffent rods for difffernt applications but considering i have been using a Penn Accord 2000 with Penn Accord Rod for the last 7 years for all these applications i think anything is an upgrade. Actually thought about just getting a Penn Applause 2000 for a while, but thought i might splurge a bit :)

Look forward to seeing what rod you are using.

Cheers, Buz.

Ive got my stradic 2500 on a shimano starlo stix tournament pro 2-4kg with 8lb braid, I reakon its a pretty well balanced combo. The rods nice and light with quality components and they are well priced, think they are around $130 mark. I mainly use it for flicking small placies around when anchor and burleying in the boat, its great fun with the skippy, small sambos and small pinkies but i generaly get reefed pretty quick when the big fish rock up. So yeah, its worth a look.

Thanks for all the replies

Thanks for all the replies and advice on the rods you are using guys.

I ended up getting a Berkley Dropshot Gen4, DS4662-24, 2-4kg, 1.98m 2pc.

Tried a heap of rods and also the ones mentioned above, and found that i liked the feel of the Dropshot the best, plus for the price i thought it was exceptional value. I have spooled it up with 10lb Finns(left overs after spooling my baitcaster), and will be giving it a test run on the river for Bream(i know a bit overkill) in preparation for hitting some Barra up with it in the NT.

Thanks again to all who posted.

I use a that dropshot with my stradic 2500. 10lb might be a bit too light for territory barra tho.

Hahahaha, old thread, but thought i would post the results i have had with this combo anyway.

I ended up changing to 6lb finns for the NT trip as i thought the 10lb just a bit to thick for my liking when chasing rat Barra, then hooked onto this bugger. Still worked though  :)

Even worked down here on a Sambo, albeit i did change back to 10lb after my NT trip :)

Also managed a LB Tailor on a popper with it.

Yeah the NT run off is just epic. The hard thing is deciding which river to go to/which one is firing while you are up there. My brother just had an epic trip to the Towns River the last week with a few of his mates. They got over 20 legal barra with my brothers best going 103.5cm. And its only just starting to be the build-up up there!

Most the Barra we were catching at the mouths of feeder creeks where the freshwater was pouring into the tidal water. Still about 60km up from the mouth. Mainly on Live Cherabin but i got this 98cm on a minature SP.
