Suburban Songs
Sorry, I know this is not a fishing topic, but I was wondering if anyone happened to be listening to 96FM when it recently held its Suburban Song contest. I knocked up two songs (one about being in a Subi Bar to the music of Back in the USSR and one on Mirrabooka to the music of Helter Skelter) and sent them in for a bit of a lark. I had a phone call this morning to tell me I was a finalist and had won a prize (unfortunately not the $10,000 first prize). I never even knew they had played one of my songs. The 96FM girl couldn't tell me which one of my songs made the finals and I am wondering if anyone happened to hear either one of my feeble efforts.
All the best, Colin Hay

All apologies to Lennon and McCartney Colin
They can't even tell me what I have won - just that it's called a "Solarhart Spa Package". Dont' think its a spa unfortunately - probably more like spa salts or something.

That's a crack up Ian
I am sure Number 2 wouldn't like the "squeal like a pig scene" from Deliverance. There was a band once called the Bouncing Checks, or something like that.

I used to live down there quite a while back. It looks like it hasn't changed much LOL.

Yeah Vince
Well the main street has had a huge face lift with new road design, brick paving, lighting and land scaping and there is a new (totally useless and ugly!) shire building, more people (Kendenup boomed for a while) - but that's about it.
The 'locals' still make a scene of themselves

I noticed that.....
I passed through about 3 months ago and managed to buy a case of the old Plantagenet vintage reds (OMRAH 2003 I think). I dropped into the top pub and they have done a bit to it although it's still the same dump we used to get pissed at after footy training... No footy memorabilia there now.. they must have relocated it all somewhere else.. shame about that.... I wanted to show off my brag picks to the missus...
Cheers, Vince
